My Story

A Life Lived Boldly

Born in the ‘70s, raised in the ‘80s, and living life to the fullest in the ‘90s, I’ve always embraced being a bit unconventional. I’m a gentle soul with a streetwise attitude, a wicked sense of humour, and a bold approach to life. If there’s an easy path and a difficult one, you’ll always find me tackling the latter.

My work is vibrant, abstract, and deeply inspired by my love for Wales. But I’ve never forgotten my London roots, where I developed a passion for graffiti and street art during my teenage years. I love experimenting with mixed media and various techniques, making most of my pieces one-of-a-kind. My wild imagination often shows up not just in my art but in my writing, another passion of mine.
From London To Wales

North London to Wales

My Roots

Although I’ve lived most of my life in North London, my heart has always been in Wales. My father was a Cardiff boy, and my mother’s family hails from Dolgellau, Harlech, and Friog. Now, I call Wales home. As a child, I spent countless hours running wild on the Welsh beaches and visiting the Corris Craft Centre, always telling everyone I’d have my own shop there one day. That dream never left me.

From Hospitals to the Arctic

My Journey

I spent 12 years working in psychiatric hospitals and secure units before transitioning to an 18-year career in the police force. During those years, my art took a back seat, and I rarely picked up a brush. But my passion for adventure never stopped. One of my most unforgettable experiences was traveling solo to Svalbard, where I watched polar bears in their natural habitat under the Northern Lights.

Injury, Art Therapy, and Cancer

Life's Curveballs

In 2005, my life changed drastically after a serious car accident left me with chronic pain and limited mobility. During recovery, I found my way back to art through extensive art therapy, reigniting my love for creativity. But life threw another curveball in 2014 when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. I battled through it with grit and determination and have been in remission for nine years. Like a phoenix, I’ve always risen stronger from life’s challenges.

Chasing The Dream

After surviving both the accident and cancer, I realised life is too short to not chase your dreams. In 2021, after losing a close friend to cancer, I knew it was time to follow through on our shared dream of me owning an art gallery in Corris. Just weeks later, I got a call offering me a unit at Corris Craft Centre—something I consider a little divine intervention. The moment a robin landed on my table outside the centre, I knew it was a sign that my decision to move to Wales was the right one.

Capturing Life From a Different Perspective

My Photography

During my cancer treatment, I studied photography and earned diplomas in both photography and Adobe Lightroom. I’m particularly drawn to landscapes and seascapes, often capturing Wales in its most extreme weather. On tougher days, when my pain is high, I zip around in my off-road wheelchair, giving me access to places others might not reach and offering a unique perspective in my shots. My favorite? Candid portraiture—catching people in raw, unscripted moments that capture their soul.

Commissions

My Projects

I love working on commissions, especially large canvases. Right now, I’m working on a piece that combines painting with Swarovski crystals and handmade gold leaf spheres. Whether through my art or photography, I hope to share a piece of my world with you, and I look forward to welcoming you into my gallery whenever you’re in the area.
