Winter Woodland Christmas Cards | Wings of Winter

For those who have followed my Art career for a while or had visited Sammi Wilson Art at Corris, you will have seen my embroidered Phoenix. The story behind him was one of me being sent so many curve balls in my life but always rising up from the ashes. This time last year I was starting my second cancer journey. I had been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. So instead of heading to New York to spend Christmas in the Big Apple, I spent it at home, back and forth to hospital appointments in Liverpool. Fast Forward a year and life is good once more! Cancer free and following several months getting back on my feet, I have once more, risen from the ashes! So this card is a little nod to my life journey and hopefully a little inspiration to those who have been through or are going through struggles.

So my phoenix unfurls its flame-bright wings beneath the moon, scattering colour across the frozen woodland. Below, a lone fox gazes upward as gold, coral and crimson feathers stream through the star-filled sky. For a moment, fire and frost share the forest, and the long winter night glows with the promise of renewal.

Wings of Winter is available as a single card or a pack of 5 cards - one of each design. You can also buy a 20cm x 20cm mounted print - a beautiful gift for a loved one this Christmas.

The designs are my mixed media artwork using acrylic paints, coloured pencil and high pigment pens.
