Firestorm is a mixed-media artwork that portrays the wildfires that often sweep the Welsh mountains in the Spring when the burning of gorse becomes out of control. Rich crimsons, deep purples and veins of shimmering gold flow across layered textures; fluid washes and deliberate drips, shape the rugged Welsh moorland, conveying heat, movement and the scarred traces left on the hills. Energetic brushwork and metallic highlights portray movement of the flames flowing across ridges while bold passages of colour express resilience and a sense of renewal.
